Memorising a mark scheme creates false confidence. The next paper changes the surface; the underlying skill must transfer.

A better paper cycle

  1. Attempt under realistic conditions
  2. Mark with the official scheme — note method marks lost
  3. Categorise every miss (concept, method, carelessness, timing)
  4. Re-teach or drill the concept, then re-attempt a similar question days later

If a student can only solve a question after seeing the solution once, they have not yet owned the method.
