Ambitious families sometimes choose HL for status. Here is how we talk about readiness without dampening aspiration.
HL can be the right challenge. It can also be a prestige trap that crowds out sleep, other subjects, and genuine understanding. Our job is to tell the difference early.
We look at algebra fluency, current school attainment, study rhythm, and university requirements. Sometimes the answer is “HL with structured support.” Sometimes it is “strengthen SL foundations this term, then reassess.”
